Meadow Bank Guest House

A warm welcome awaits you at Meadow Bank Guest House

In the heart of Cumbria Meadow Bank Guest House provides comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the unspoilt North Western Lake District. Nestling at the foot of Whinlatter Pass, Lorton Vale provides a picturesque location some 8 miles from the popular market town of Keswick, 4 miles from Cockermouth and within easy reach of the Solway Coast.

The Lakes of Crumockwater, Loweswater, Buttermere, Bassenthwaite, Ennerdale and Derwentwater are all within a few miles of Meadow Bank. All of the lakes offer breathtaking scenery and some provide sailing and fishing. Ambleside, Windermere, Grasmere and the South Lakes are also within easy reach

For those with fell walking and climbing in mind, Skiddaw, Scafell Pike and Catbells are but a few of the mountains to enjoy. The valleys of Newlands and Borrowdale are also at hand and offer numerous walks for all abilities.

While only 3 miles away the Whinlatter Forest Park and Visitor Centre provides a rare opportunity to view the ospreys, red squirrels and a variety of birds and animals. The park also offers a host of walks, cycle ways and outdoor activities for all to enjoy.

The C2C ( Coast to Coast walking route) and Reivers cycles routes both pass through the village of Lorton and we provide secure cycle storage included with your stay.

Although an unspolit area of North West England, the Lorton valley is only a 40 minute drive from the M6 motorway junction 40 at Penrith. This gives easy access to the major conurbations of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham to the south, while Carlisle, Newcastle, the Borders and Scotland are to the North.
